Growing Home

by Gloria Van Meter

September 5th, Labor Day Weekend through September 11th, the Growing Home families will be here.  We volunteered for this extra week in order to keep the Growing Home Center from incurring the expense of housing the families in a hotel.  So please help me again with food donations and overnight hosts.  Also, thank you soooooooo much for the support when the families were here 8/15 to 8/21.  Your support is what keeps this program working.

Presbyterian Women

by Vicki Esposito

With the start of our fall season, PW Circles will resume.  For those of you ladies who may be new to the church -- or just new to participating in some of the women's events, here is information about the current Circles -- who moderates each one -- and when they meet.  If you have questions about them or want to know more, please feel free to contact the moderator -- their numbers are in the WPC directory.  The first three Circles listed are Bible study circles and the study this fall will be on Revelation.  Last year for the final lesson in the series, we had a combined Circle meeting and pie party...and how can you go wrong with a PIE PARTY?

Baker-Hudson Circle -- Francine Taylor, Moderator -- meets the 3rd Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the church library

Harmony Circle -- Eulie Bing, Moderator -- meets the 2nd Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the church library/lounge area.  This group knows child care can sometimes be an obstacle, and so work to keep any kiddos quietly entertained while the group meets.

John Hyson Circle -- Pauline Maurer, Moderator -- meets the 2nd Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at members' homes.

We also have the Louise Brandon Sewing Circle -- Kerry Nickless, Moderator -- and they meet the 1st Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. in the Gold Door Room.  Perhaps you have sewing talents that you want to add to the group.

I can assure you that any of these circles would be happy to have you drop in to visit and see what they are all about.  Watch for news about some opportunities for quilting as well.  We also have an Ecumentical Lu8ncheon coming up on October 23.  We host that and invite women from all of the area churches to join us for lunch and also for  sales of baked goodies, crafts, used books and a program.  This year, our own Jane Schneider will present a program on her underwater adventures, so please plan to attend if you can.  This is open to all women -- you need not be a Circle member.  If you have an interest in donating baked goodies or crafts for the sale, please let me know.

Please let me know if you need more information on anything here or have any questions about this or ideas for other activities.
